"Face Off" has been renewed for Season 6 on Syfy. The critically acclaimed special-effects makeup competition is currently airing new episodes of Season 5 on the cable network.

Set to return in January 2014, "Face Off" Season 6 will feature 14 new makeup artists trying to create creatures and characters over a multi-week competition. In addition to this, Syfy will air two "Face Off"-related specials in November: "Naked and Painted" on Nov. 12 and "Top 20 Countdown: Judges' Favorites" on Nov. 19.

The current season of "Face Off" airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on Syfy. With only five contestants left in the competition -- Miranda Jory, Laney Parkhurst, Tate Steinsiek, Laura Tyler and Roy Wooley -- the upcoming challenge is to create an original dark elf warrior character. In the finale, the final three artists will each create two lead characters for the ballet, "Swan Lake." A performance by the Los Angeles Ballet will show the makeup in action.

Hosted by McKenzie Westmore, "Face Off" judges include Ve Neill ("The Hunger Games," "Pirates of the Caribbean"), Glenn Hetrick ("CSI: New York," "Heroes") and Neville Page ("Avatar," "Prometheus"). Makeup artist Michael Westmore ("Star Trek") is the mentor for the series.
