A tanker truck filled with 6000 of Scotch whisky overturned and then caught fire in New Jersey on Tuesday (June 4) morning. There are no reports of serious injury or drunkenness.

The accident occurred at 9am (far too early for whisky) when the truck was passing through a residential and commercial neighborhood of Woodbridge, NJ. According to MyCentralJersey.com, the vehicle clipped a telephone pole during a turn and then hit a parked Cadillac. For some reason, this caused the vehicle to ignite. Police and fire officials have not yet determined whether it was the truck's fuel or the Scotch that burned.

While the driver of the truck sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital as a precaution, there were no other reports of injury or major damage.

Similarly, police had no information on what type of whisky was in the truck or the alcohol's eventual destination. The large quantity of liquid involved in the spill implies some wholesale transport (perhaps to a bottling facility) or else a seriously big party.

If nothing else, this accident gives drunk driving a whole new meaning.
