It's not that we don't adore Taylor Swift, but there's a reason we greeted the news that the country star won't play Eponine in the upcoming "Les Miserables" film adaptation with a sigh of relief rather than a cry of outrage.
Deadline is reporting that the role is instead going to Samantha Barks, who played the role in London's West End production as well as the 25th anniversary concert. It'll be her first time on the big screen.
Listen: Swifty could very well be capable of carrying a Broadway role, but we feel like maybe she should test it out on a smaller scale first before opening herself up to the great responsibility that comes with playing such an iconic character in a beloved musical that's bound to be scrutinized over and over again.
Barks joins Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Aaron Tveit and Eddie Redmayne in the Tom Hooper-directed film, scheduled for release on Dec. 7.
