Taylor Swift pays for new $17 million mansion in cash
Taylor Swift might have sold her Cape Cod mansion, but she's still keeping herself close to New England. The pop star has reportedly purchased a Rhode Island mansion for $17 million -- in cash.
TMZ reports that the 5.23 acre home was going for $20 million, but Swift managed to close the deal for $17.75 million, likely because she was willing to pay for the house up front. Swift was spotted touring the Rhode Island estate on April 15, and she was seen moving in on April 27.
It could be that Swift is planning to do another house flip like she did with her Hyannisport home. She bought that mansion for $4.8 million, and was able to sell it for a reported $5.67. Swift claims the sale had nothing to do with her breakup with Conor Kennedy, even though the Cape Cod estate was right near the Kennedys' Hyannisport home.
"People say that about me, that I apparently buy houses near every boy I like -- that's a thing that I apparently do," Swift tells Vanity Fair. "If I like you I will apparently buy up the real estate market just to freak you out so you leave me."
