Taylor Swift predicts she could be 'single forever'
For the first time in a long time, Taylor Swift is single. The "We Are Never Getting Back Together" singer is totally fine with that status too, because she is more focused on herself than a significant other at this point in her life.
"I've kind of realized that I have no idea where I'm going to be next year, or in six months, or in two months. I mean, I know where I'll be on tour in two months, but no idea where I'm going to be mentally, emotionally, dreams, goals, wishes, hopes," Swift tells Wonderland magazine. "I have no idea if I'm going to get married or be single forever or have a family or just be on my own. You know, paint in a cottage by the ocean by myself."
Fortunately that's not a scary premise for the young singer. She rationalizes that "relationships are like traffic lights," and she can only exist in them "if it's a green light." If it's red, it seems like Swift would rather be single. She also seems fine not having her future mapped out already.
"I just have no idea and I'm kind of into that," she says. "You can make a board for all the goals you want in your life with the pictures on it, and that's great, daydreaming is wonderful, but you can never plan your future."
Swift has gone through her fair share of relationships and breakups, and she calls what comes after a split a "very complex" experience. She should know, as she's become something of an expert on post-breakup songs.
"You're never feeling just sad," Swift explains. "Maybe you wake up and you feel sad, and then you get angry, and then you feel like, 'I'm fine,' and then you feel confident, and then you feel a sense of doubt, and then you're insecure, and then there's jealousy, and then you're back to sad -- and then you feel fine again."
