Had he not died unexpectedly in July, Cory Monteith would have almost definitely attended the 2013 Teen Choice Awards. As it is, many offered tribute to the deceased "Glee" star. Monteith's co-stars spoke the most about their friend.

The formal tribute to Monteith occurred when "Glee" won the award for Choice TV Comedy. Almost the entire cast of the show was on the stage, but the acceptance speeches were given by three of the stars who spent the most time with Monteith over four seasons.

Kevin McHale started off the acceptance with the standard words we expect to hear at awards ceremonies. Amber Riley followed and first brought up the topic of Cory Monteith. The actress pointed out how everyone on the cast and crew of "Glee" supported each other throughout this tough month. "Although we lost someone that we really love, we are very fortunate to come back to a show where we know the love of family," Riley said. "Cory was like a brother to us, like a dad."

Jenna Ushkowitz ended the speechmaking by dedicating the award to the fans. "On behalf of our brother and our castmate, we know that Cory would want to dedicate this award to you," she told the audience.

As the "Glee" cast left the stage with their surfboard, a memorial photo of Monteith appeared above them. It was a somber end to what is usually the most light-hearted of awards.
