'Teen Mom 2' star Leah Messer-Calvert reveals daughter Ali is doing well despite diagnosisAdd to Favorites | Teen Mom 2
Despite the fact that Leah Messer-Calvert's daughter Ali was diagnosed with a rare, incurable form of muscular dystrophy six months ago, the "Teen Mom 2" star reveals that Ali is doing well and defying doctors' expectations.
When Ali was diagnosed, doctors said that she would spend much of her life confined to a wheelchair, but Messer-Calvert shared some excited news on Wednesday (Feb. 26). "Ali is running," Messer-Calvert tells In Touch. "She has so much determination. We're in awe of how she handles adversity."
Messer-Calvert knows not to expect a full recovery from Ali, but she's proud of how far her daughter has come despite her diagnosis.
"She's doing so much better than expected," Messer-Calvert says. "We don't know what the future holds, but this is proof that we should never give up hope. One girl who reached out to me also suffers from muscular dystrophy. It made my hope for Ali so much more realistic."
Messer-Calvert is mother to Ali and her twin sister Aleeah, with ex-husband Corey Simms. She got re-married to Jeremy Calvert, and in February 2013, she welcomed her third child, Adalynn Faith.
