Texas Gov. Rick Perry discusses legalizing marijuana on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'
"Jimmy Kimmel Live" is in Texas for the SXSW festival this week and on Tuesday (March 11), Kimmel welcomed Gov. Rick Perry to his show, where he talks about decriminalizing marijuana in his state.
"We're trying to be smart about it," says Perry. "You don't want to ruin a kid's life for having a joint and that was historically what you saw. We put drug courts into place. We're making really smart decisions about dealing with people, particularly when it comes to these small amounts of drugs. We've been able to shut down a prison in the state of Texas."
Perry goes on to reminisce about seeing Willie Nelson in concert in 1968 in Fort Worth -- though Perry's "pretty sure Willie's never voted for [him] a day in his life."
Kimmel cracks, "Are you sure Willie remembers to vote?"
