'That's My Boy:' Vanilla Ice makes a comeback at the request of Adam Sandler's wife

vanilla-ice-thats-my-boy-gi.jpgThe song that made Vanilla Ice a one-hit wonder -- "Ice Ice Baby" -- figures prominently in Adam Sandler's latest comedy, " That's My Boy," along with the musician. Playing himself in the film, hitting theaters June 15, Rob Van Winkle (a.k.a Vanilla Ice) claims he's totally at peace with his up and down career, including an appearance in 1991's " Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II."

"I look back, and love it all. It's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles world out there now! I mean Obama grew up to that s***," he tells Zap2it. "So, I'm excited to bring back some of the old school and reminisce a little bit. We've got the 5.0 in the movie. I almost wanted to stand up, and do the running man for old time's sake."

Incidentally, it was Sandler's wife Jackie who suggested Van Winkle would be a perfect fit in the film.

"The Ice-man was very cool when I talked to him about it," Sandler observes, recalling the day Van Winkle came to this office to talk about the role. "You have this star that [my character] hung out with in the late '80s. And we became friends and we were both at the height of our fame together. When we were talking about who [the character] should be my wife said Vanilla Ice -- that would be the best. And everyone got excited."

Natch.
