So far on
we've only heard about the mysterious Grounders and seen what they're capable of (cough, Jasper's brush with death, cough).
Here's what we know about them: They aren't supposed to exist, since the humans up on the Ark thought all human life on Earth was wiped out due to the nuclear apocalypse 97 years ago. But the teens recently dispatched to the ground quickly found out that's not the case, and they're not as alone on Earth as they thought.
can exclusively reveal what these mysterious Grounders look like ... and yes, they truly are humans, not some radiation-ravaged mutant born out of your nightmares. Check out the exclusive photo above of the teens' first encounter with a Grounder.
Octavia is the first teen to interact with this mysterious race of humans, as we saw in
the April 16 episode
when she woke up after hitting her head to find a Grounder staring her in the face. Yikes. But what is he carrying her? And why is she not screaming bloody murder?
In Wednesday's (April 23) episode, "His Sister's Keeper," the search for the missing Octavia is on as Bellamy leads his crew into Grounder territory to find his sister. But what they'll find is even more terrifying than what they already assumed about the Grounders, while Octavia learns some crucial information about the Grounder who was staring at her.
What do you think of the Grounder? Is he what you expected to see? We're loving the futuristic, tribal-meets-camo look he's rocking. Let's hope he doesn't have to put that weapon to use, though.
"The 100" airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
