the-100-episode-9-exclusive.jpg With an episode title like "Unity Day," one might think "The 100" may actually give viewers a happy, feel-good hour of TV dedicated to celebrating -- what else? -- unity. It's a holiday that the people of the Ark celebrate in the future, and holidays are happy times, right?

But nope. This is "The 100." We don't get "happy" on "The 100." Might as well squash that hope and optimism now.

Zap2it has an exclusive photo from Wednesday's (May 14) episode of The CW's dark hit drama that proves that not even a holiday like Unity Day can have a happy ending.

In the photo, it appears that something -- a bomb, perhaps? -- wreaks havoc up on the Ark, wounding many, and Councilman Kane looks panicked while helping the injured. According to the official episode synopsis for "Unity Day," during the Unity Day celebration on the Ark, "tragedy strikes." Is the new Councilman Sydney behind the attack like she was behind the attempted assassination of Chancellor Jaha? What is her endgame?

"The 100" airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
