'The Avengers' trailer: Avengers assemble ... hey, is it May 4 yet?

If you were still on the fence about "The Avengers," the latest trailer for the Joss Whedon-directed all-star superhero movie should push you firmly into the "holy crap this looks awesome" camp.

Although we really don't know what the big conflict at the center of the movie is just yet, the trailer features our heroes from the Marvel universe banding together to fight an unspecified evil. We've got Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Chris Evans' Captain America, Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye, Mark Ruffalo's Hulk and Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury.

We've also got great superhero movie dialogue like "We're not a team, we're a time bomb!" and other ridiculous, only-in-the-movies phrases.

Our one gripe: needs way more Renner. The trailer focuses mostly on the characters and actors we already know -- which makes sense, but Renner was part of one of 2011's biggest movies ( "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol"). Maybe they should play that up?

"The Avengers" hits theaters May 4.
