'The Bachelor' gets an all-star competition spin-off
"Bachelor Pad" will pit former "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" contestants against one another in a "Big Brother"-style house format, ABC entertainment president Steve McPherson has confirmed to Zap2it.
The Hollywood Reporter says that the show was inspired by the real-life relationships former contestants have formed with each other. "Pad" will feature 20 previous contestants from the past 13 "Bachelor" and past five "Bachelorette" seasons.
Contestants will live in a house together, compete in challenges (sometimes inspired by events from past "Bachelor" episodes) and at the end of each episode someone will be eliminated. ABC has ordered seven episodes so far and "Bachelor" host Chris Harrison has agreed to host. The launch is tentatively scheduled for late summer, probably coinciding with the end of the next "Bachelorette."
We are a little alarmed at the amount of excitement this announcement brought us!
