'The Bachelor' star Shayne Lamas loses baby and is hospitalized
Shayne Lamas -- daughter of actor Lorenzo Lamas and best known for winning Season 12 of "The Bachelor" -- lost her baby on Sunday (Feb. 9) and remains hospitalized.
Around 7:35 p.m. PT paramedics rushed to Lamas and her husband Nik Richie's Orange County, Calif. home after she collapsed, and she was taken to the hospital, TMZ reports. Due to her internal bleeding around her uterus, Lamas underwent surgery, but miscarried due to complications.
"Shayne had a life-saving emergency surgery," Richie says. "She is on a ventilator system and is in a sedation-induced coma. Her vital signs are now currently stable."
Though it was previously reported that Lamas was in a coma, her father Lorenzo came out and dispelled any rumors.
"We are so grateful that my daughter, Shayne Lamas-Richie, is conscious and stable. She is not in a coma, however she did miscarry the child she was carrying," Lorenzo tells People. "We are so very grateful to the hospital personnel and the doctors who saved her life last night. Shayne is aware of her condition and that her family and her husband are here with her and love her so much. She will be remaining in the hospital until her doctors determine that she can be released."
Lamas was 16 weeks pregnant at the time of her surgery, and is already a parent to 2-year-old daughter Press. Our thoughts are with her and her family.
