This four-episode finale to the tale of Cathy Jamison's battle with skin cancer was a beautiful and heartrending ending to the Showtime dramedy and the award was well-deserved.

Unfortunately, Linney was not in there to accept her award. Presenter Matt Damon cracks, "She's such a great actress, she doesn't even have to be here." But then he clarified that she's working and could not be there.

This was actually Linney's third win in this particular category. She won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie in 2008 for "John Adams" and in 2001 for "Wild Iris." But this is her first Emmy win for "The Big C."
