The next "Pee-wee Herman" adventure will land him on "The Blacklist."  Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Paul Reubens, the actor behind the bow-tied jokester, will be joining James Spader on the NBC drama for a multiple episode arc.

However, Reubens character will not be children friendly. Reubens will be playing Mr. Vargas -- "a dapper, finicky 'muscle' who handles delicate situations in the criminal underworld." He will first appear in the Season 2 episode 3 and will stay for at least two episodes.

"It's going to be something totally different, and it's going to be awesome," executive producer Jon Bokenkamp tells EW. "It can't get strange enough for me. One of the most fun things is being able to write for actors who I've admired and think are interesting and try to play against expectations. I'd say he's gonna shake things up a bit when he enters Red's orbit."

Reubens started production on Friday (Aug. 22) He joins a list of "The Blacklist" guest stars that includes Mary-Louis Parker, Lee Tergesen and Krysten Ritter.

"The Blacklist" returns Sept. 22 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
