'The Borgias' gets a finale ... in e-book formAdd to Favorites | The Borgias
The cable channel says it will publish an e-book called "The Borgia Apocalypse" that will extend and conclude the storyline from the series based on the powerful Renaissance-era family. It's based on a script creator Neil Jordan wrote for a two-hour finale movie and will be available through "major e-retailers" later this week.
"We're thrilled that the series' loyal fans will have the opportunity to read Neil's final farewell to one of history's most infamous families," Showtime says in a statement.
Showtime announced its decision to cancel "The Borgias" midway through the show's third season -- after production had already wrapped. Some of the show's fans didn't take too kindly to the decision, mounting a save-the-show campaign that included flying a banner over Showtime's TCA press tour luncheon that read in part, "Sho fans you care -- save 'The Borgias.'"
Showtime Entertainment president David Nevins said he considered greenlighting Jordan's finale script as a standalone movie, but "the economics of it just didn't make sense, so we didn't move forward."
What do you think, "Borgias" fans? Is something better than nothing in this case?
