It would seem being the Pope's mistress would have its benefits, but what if you've been replaced after having his four children? It's a dangerous game when "The Borgias" premieres on April 3.
Joanne Whalley plays Italian noblewoman Vanozza dei Cattanei. She isn't the only mistress Pope Alexander VI (played by Jeremy Irons) has taken in his life, but she's the longest lasting and the mother of his four children, who would go on to become Italian infamy.
After being pronounced the pope, Rodrigo Borgia found himself a new mistress. Cast aside, Vanozza must now protect herself and the children from his enemies. And as any good mother and jilted lover would, she'll do whatever it takes.
