'The Cape': Season 2 looking increasingly unlikely as episode order is reduced

the-cape-explosion-320.jpgWe've got some bad news for fans of NBC's superhero drama, "The Cape."

NBC has cut down their initial episode order for the series' first season from a planned 13 episodes to just 10, confirms TV Guide.

Since the series debuted, its ratings have fallen from 8.4 million viewers to an unhealthy 5.3 million viewers for Monday's episode. A rep for the network confirms that they plan to air the remaining episodes as originally scheduled.

The reduced episode order is typically the first nail in a TV series' coffin, so we'd be willing to bet that "The Cape" doesn't fare well for a possible Season 2.

Our hope is that the plug is pulled officially in time to free up the series' considerable talent, including lead David Lyons and Sci-Fi favorite Summer Glau, for pilot season.
