Deadline reports that the network is developing "iZombie," a supernatural crime procedural that revolves around a med student-turned-zombie who take a job in the coroner's office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity. With each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse's memories, leading her to team with her medical examiner boss and a police detective to solve homicide cases and quiet the disturbing voices in her head.

"iZombie" will be co-written by "Veronica Mars" creator Rob Thomas and his writing and producing partner, Diane Ruggiero. Ruggiero, who previously served as an executive producer on both "Veronica Mars" and "Cupid" (another Thomas series), also co-write the upcoming film adaptation of "Veronica Mars" with Thomas.

The projects joins The CW's other DC-themed series in development, "Arrow" spinoff "The Flash" and the recently announced "Hourman."
