"The Flash" may have just made fans of "The Tomorrow People" very happy: Robbie Amell has been cast in the recurring role of Ronnie Raymond, also known in the DC Comics world as Firestorm.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amell's character will first appear in episode 3 of the upcoming Season 1. Prior to the events of the "Flash" pilot, Ronnie was a maintenance worker for S.T.A.R. Labs and the fiance of Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker). His fate following the explosion of the particle accelerator -- the event that turns Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) into The Flash -- turns out to be rather complicated.

"Geoff Johns, Andrew Kreisberg and myself designed the pilot and series to include Ronnie (aka Firestorm) -- and to actually have someone with Robbie's talent playing the role is beyond exciting. We can't wait for viewers and fans of the character to check it out," says executive producer Greg Berlanti in a statement.

Amell seems pretty happy about the role as well: "I'm so excited to join forces with Greg Berlanti and The CW again on 'The Flash.' Being brought into the DC Universe is a dream, I can't wait to get started!"

Who is the superhero that Ronnie becomes? The comic version of Firestorm is a nuclear-powered superhero somehow forged out of two men. Since the particle accelerator is presumably the cause of whatever happens to Ronnie in "The Flash," there could be some alterations.

"The Flash" will premiere Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
