the-fosters-winter-premiere-recap.jpgThe saddest feel-good show of the summer, "The Fosters," returned to ABC Family Monday (Jan. 13). The episode picked up immediately after Stef and Lena's wedding but before they realized their foster daughter Callie had run away. The episode was less a frantic search for her than expected, but those final minutes sure packed a punch.

The matriarchs of the new Adams Foster family -- no hyphen -- woke up on their honeymoon day, shared a very loving kiss, and probably thought the most annoying thing they'd have to deal with would be returning all the equipment they rented for the wedding.

Instead, though, they finally figured it out and tracked her down (thanks to Wyatt), only to have Callie slip out on her own. But after Callie realized she wasn't going to get a job or have a place to stay -- and she learned her father had gotten out of prison a year ago and never even bothered to contact her -- she made the heartbreaking choice to get herself thrown back in the juvenile system. She didn't know what else to do! It was heart wrenching to watch.

Mari and Jesus had a sad moment realizing that Lexi was actually leaving for good, as was Jude's realization that Callie had run away, but Callie's sad choice was the hardest part to watch.

What did you think about the premiere? What did you think about Callie's choice?
