On the heels of starring in last season's ABC series "GCB," the Tony ( "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown") and Emmy ( "Pushing Daisies") winner was set for a recurring role as a political reporter in Year 4 of the Sunday CBS drama, Several days into filming the season-opening episode, she was struck by a fallen light fixture ... resulting in injuries to her face, skull, neck, spine and ribs.
"I couldn't watch it," Chenoweth tells Zap2it about her one "Good Wife" episode when it was broadcast. "My mom watched it, and she was like, 'Oh, my gosh. You looked so cute and you were so good. I'm just so mad that you're not on the show right now.' But she also said it was even a little difficult for her, knowing what happened."
Defying her neurologist's expectations, Chenoweth is nearing the end of the year by literally getting back to business. After giving several concerts in California last week, she'll co-host FOX's telecast of the American Country Awards again Monday, Dec. 10. She also has more in-person performances lined up for early 2013, including one at New York's Lincoln Center.
Chenoweth doesn't rule out a possible return to "The Good Wife," time and health permitting. "I was going to have a five-episode arc," she notes, "and those writers were so great. They waited and waited as long as they could, but I just wasn't able to return quick enough to shoot all my stuff.
"In time, I could definitely see myself going back there," adds Chenoweth. "The part was so juicy; that's what the real heartbreaker was. They have been just incredible there, and CBS has been incredible, so we'll see what goes down with that. Right now, I'm just concentrating on getting my voice and my stamina up."
