'The Good Wife' on 'The Writers' Room' clip: The pilot slap inspiration explained

Fans get to enter the minds of "The Good Wife's" showrunners and stars in the latest episode of "The Writers' Room." In the above Zap2it-exclusive clip, host Jim Rash gets his guests to reminisce on the initial inspiration for the CBS hit.

According to Julianna Margulies, the premise for "The Good Wife" began when Marlene King and Robert King were watching the Eliot Spitzer scandal unfold, and they wondered: "When [Spitzer and his wife] leave the podium, what happens there?" That is what directly led to Margulies's Alicia Florrick slapping Chris Noth's Peter Florrick in the pilot.

Watch the entire clip above for more on how the Kings were inspired to make "The Good Wife." "The Writers' Room" airs Mondays at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Sundance Channel.
