'The Great Gatsby' trailer: Watch Baz Luhrman make a spectacle of Carey Mulligan and Leonardo DiCaprio

leonardo-dicaprio-carey-mulligan-great-gastby.jpgWhen Baz Luhrman announced his plans to direct the latest film adaptation of "The Great Gatsby," we figured it wasn't going to be our 9th grade English teacher's interpretation. And when we got our first peek at the two-and-a-half minute trailer -- which begins with Kanye West and Jay-Z's collaboration "No Church in the Wild" -- we knew we'd figured right.

Leonardo DiCaprio plays the title character, with Carey Mulligan stepping into Daisy Buchanan's dainty shoes. (Take note of the iconic moment when she relishes in his shirts.) The film may serve as a comeback for DiCaprio's off-screen BFF Tobey Maguire, who takes on the role of Nick Carraway with considerable swagger, if the trailer is anything to go by.

We had our doubts as to how Gatsby's Long Island Sound would fare in Luhrman's 3-D spectacle -- but now we're about ready to shell out for those overpriced tickets.
