'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire': Jeffrey Wright is Beetee
Beetee is a former Hunger Games winner from District 3 who's taking part in the Quarter Quell that's the centerpiece of the second book. He's known for his skill with electronics, which earned him the nickname "Volts" after his victory some years ago. He's close with fellow District 3 tribute Wiress ( Amanda Plummer) and sometimes finishes her sentences.
Earlier reports pegged Tony Shalhoub as the front-runner to play the character.
Wright joins a "Catching Fire" cast that also includes newcomers Philip Seymour Hoffman (Plutarch), Jena Malone (Johanna) and Sam Claflin, who recently scored the key role of Finnick.
Wright won an Emmy and Golden Globe in 2004 for the HBO miniseries "Angels in America." He's played CIA operative Felix Leiter in the past two James Bond movies, and other recent credits include "Source Code," "The Ides of March" and "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close."
