'The Hunger Games' finds its Primrose Everdeen
Newcomer Willow Shields has landed the role of Katniss' younger sister, nicknamed Prim, reports The Hollywood Reporter. In the books, Prim is described as "very pretty" and "fresh as a raindrop, as lovely as the primrose for which she was named."
Prim plays an important role in the books as her name has been put in to the reaping for The Hunger Games for the first time. When her name is called, Katniss volunteers to take her place.
Shields joins Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta and Liam Hemsworth as Gale. Playing tributes in the film are Jack Quaid and Leven Rambin as District 1's Marvel and Glimmer and Dayo Okeniyi and Amandla Stenberg as District 11's Thresh and Rue. Elizabeth Banks is in talks to play Katniss and Peeta's pink-haired handler Effie Trinket.
"The Hunger Games" will hit theaters on Mar. 23, 2012.
