Naughty Dog hosted a secret panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2014 Day 2 on Friday, July 25 to announce a film adaptation of their hit post-apocalypse survival video game "The Last of Us." Fans of "Game of Thrones" should be intrigued by the project, because it might star one of the show's cast members.
Writer and director Neil Druckmann revealed at the panel that he and producer Sam Raimi have been in talks with Maisie Williams -- aka Arya Stark -- to play main character Ellie. Thus far talks haven't progressed to contracts, but this would be the perfect opportunity for Williams to break out into bigger blockbuster movie roles.
"The Last of Us" tells the story of Joel and Ellie, two survivors of a fungal plague that has killed the majority of humanity. They must move west to try to find a cure and stay alive in the PlayStation 4 survival horror game. May we suggest Rory McCann -- aka the Hound -- to play Joel?
Apparently Druckmann pitched an ending to Raimi that's different than the game's. Raimi jokes to the Comic-Con audience that he thought he would have to protect the property from producers, but "it looks like I'm going to have to protect it from [Druckmann]." No word yet one when the movie will be released.
