'The Middle' preview: Frankie faces her critics

the-middle-dollar-days-patricia-heaton.jpgFrankie Heck has finished her training to be a dental hygienist on "The Middle." So, good news, right?

Not so fast. In Wednesday's (April 10) episode, Frankie ( Patricia Heaton) discovers that having the training isn't enough to land a job. She has to sell herself as well, and she asks the kids for some help.

It does not go well, as you can see in this exclusive clip from the episode. Axl ( Charlie McDermott), Sue ( Eden Sher) and Brick ( Atticus Shaffer) offer up words like "angry" and "tired" to describe their mom, and Mike ( Neil Flynn) is no help either when he tries to put a stop to things. It's a very funny scene, but also -- ouch.

(Oh, and in case you're wondering what Brick is up to at the start of the clip, he joins a scout troop and is attempting to figure out how a sleeping bag works.)

The episode features guest stars Jack McBrayer ("30 Rock") as a dentist who interviews Frankie for a job, and Jim Beaver ("Supernatural," "Justified") as Brick's troop leader. It airs at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday. Watch the clip:
