As reported by Deadline, Dewitt was initially cast as Rebecca Halliday, a lawyer hired to defend Atlantis in a multimillion-dollar wrongful-termination suit in Season 2. However, Dewitt was forced to leave the production due to scheduling conflicts.

"As the production schedule for season two of The Newsroom has shifted, Rosemarie DeWitt has encountered scheduling conflicts and will no longer be able to continue in her role," HBO said in a statement. The scenes that Dewitt had already shot will be re-shot with Harden.

Patton Oswalt's role as Jonas Pfeiffer, the new Vice President of Human Resources of ACN, will not be impacted.
