'The Office' failed spinoff pilot will air as modified 'Office' episode in 2013

rainn-wilson-the-office-nbc.jpgPlans for a spinoff of "The Office" centered on Rainn Wilson's Dwight Schrute were derailed earlier this year, but "Office" boss Greg Daniels has confirmed that a modified version of the spinoff pilot will air before "The Office" closes for good in 2013.

In a brief interview with TVLine, Daniels reveals some tweaks will be made to the busted pilot to adjust for the fact that the spinoff isn't moving forward.

"We're not going to air exactly what it was, because it has certain aspects that were appropriate for a pilot of a new show," Daniels tells the site. "We're going to shoot a little additional material to make it fit into the season more."

And since Wilson won't be departing for a series of his own, Daniels hints that it will likely mean a happier ending for Dwight and longtime love interest Angela when "The Office" airs its series finale in the spring.
