office-finale-date.JPGThe end is nigh for "The Office." NBC has set a series finale date for its long-running comedy.

The show will end with a one-hour series finale on Thursday, May 16, the network says. The finale will also be the 200th episode.

Recent episodes of "The Office" have started to reveal the people making the documentary crew, in particular boom operator Brian ( Chris Diamantopoulos), who clearly has a soft spot for Pam ( Jenna Fischer) after working so close to her all these years.

Executive producer Greg Daniels said recently that turning the cameras on the documentary crew marked "the beginning of the end" for the show. He also urged people not to wait until the finale to tune in.

"I don't think we're planning on packing everything into the last episode," he said. "I would encourage people -- if you're waiting for the end of 'The Office' to re-tune in, I would start doing it right away."

The final season of "The Office" continues at 9 p.m. ET Thursday (Feb. 7) with Andy's ( Ed Helms) return, which causes a Valentine's Day dilemma for Erin ( Ellie Kemper).
