'The Office': Subtle Sexuality will invade your brain

subtlesexuality_office_290.jpg "The Office" star Mindy Kaling dropped her first music video on Thursday, and it's everything the making-of clips promised, and then some.

The video for "Male Prima Donna" -- the first single from Kelly (Kaling) and Erin's (Ellie Kemper) girl group, Subtle Sexuality -- is hilarious, featuring ridiculous costuming (lots of gold Spandex, Erin as a priest), Ryan (B.J. Novak) rapping and a guest appearance by Andy (Ed Helms).

The song is also almost maddeningly catchy, in the way that a couple of music-based "Saturday Night Live" digital shorts have been. Nate Federman and Jonathan Hughes, who've written several other "Office" webisodes, wrote the lyrics (with lines like "You're cute but you think you're blazin' hot/You're short and you think you're not" and a chorus that starts with "You're a male prima donna/But I can't help but want'cha"). The music is by Eve Nelson and Raymond Cervenka.

With its liberal use of the auto-tune and a nice little hook, "Male Prima Donna" wouldn't be out of place on the radio. It's taken up residence in my head, for sure.

The video is accompanied by a pair of webisodes that chronicle Kelly and Erin shooting the video with Andy's help, and Ryan's diva behavior on set. They're at NBC.com and are worth a view as well.
