Though the planned "Vacation" reboot isn't happening, Ed Helms will still be leading a remake of another comedy classic. According to new reports, "The Office" actor has been tapped to star in a new take on "The Naked Gun."

Leslie Nielsen was the lead in the original film, 1988's "The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!" Variety reports that this new take on the story will have "Night at the Museum" scribes Thomas Lennon and Ben Garant penning the screenplay for Paramount Pictures.

Thus far no plot details have been released from this film, and it's unclear if Helms' version will be a remake of the original or tell its own story in the style of the previous "Naked Gun" movies. Helms' brand of comedy is different from Nielsen's, so maybe this will have a completely different vibe.

This isn't the first remake Lennon and Garant have written. They also were behind the upcoming "Baywatch" remake, which is also set up at Paramount. No word yet on a release date for the new "Naked Gun" movie.
