The contagion will continue to spread as FX has ordered a second season of vampire outbreak drama "The Strain," from Guillermo del Toro, Carlton Cuse and Chuck Hogan.
"I am thrilled! Another season to spread the virus!" del Toro says in a release. "Working with Carlton, Chuck and FX has been immensely rewarding and we have such sights to unveil in the upcoming episodes -- the blood hits the fan on this one, mankind becomes an endangered species."
"It's been immensely satisfying over the last year-and-a-half to work with the incredible team at FX, Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan to bring 'The Strain' to life," Cuse says. "I am grateful for all the blood, sweat and tears (but mostly blood) given to the project by all involved, and I could not be more excited to continue telling this epic story."
Previously, del Toro told Zap2it he planned to be on set every day of Season 2 to work with the directors as often as possible. He's even cleared his film production schedule through 2015 to make that possible.
"The Strain" airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX. There are still seven episodes left in the first season.
