In a bit of good news for fans of Jeremy on "The Vampire Diaries" but bad news for those who wanted to see Nightwing on "Arrow," Steven R. McQueen has admitted that no one has offered him a role on the latter show. Not yet anyway.

Rumors that McQueen, who plays Jeremy Gilbert on "The Vampire Diaries," was up for the role of the heroic Nightwing on "Arrow" began as early as November 2013. They were pretty much started and spread by McQueen himself on Twitter.

Now, however, McQueen has admitted that it's all wishful thinking at this point. "If I get a chance to play a superhero, I can't make any promises that I'm not going to run with it," the actor tells The Wrap in a recent interview.

Nightwing is a DC Comics character and a later evolution of Batman's sidekick, Robin. McQueen has made it clear that he is a fan of both that character and of "Arrow" as a whole.

That fandom isn't quite enough for a role now, but it may just be in the future. Both "Arrow" and "The Vampire Diaries" will return to The CW in the fall of 2014.
