'The Voice': Billie Joe Armstrong will appear despite rehab stint and public outburst

christina-aguilera-billie-joe-armstrong-the-voice.jpgAfter his extremely public, expletive-laden outburst at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas (which included over 20 F-bombs and a bizarrely angry dig at Justin Bieber) Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong is headed to rehab.

However, Armstrong will still appear on NBC's "The Voice," as his segments -- in which he joins Christina Aguilera as a mentor for her team -- were taped in late July. In a statement, Armstrong said that his goal on "The Voice" was "not molding artists, it's just giving them a little bit of guidance and direction without giving them a complete makeover."

"Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse," the band said in a statement. "We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances."
