christina-aguilera-the-voice-season-5-premiere-nbc.jpgA season away from "The Voice" seems to have done original coach Christina Aguilera well. Returning to the NBC hit for Season 5 on Monday (Sept. 23), the pop diva showed a reinvigorated determination to prove her mettle as a coach and mentor.

While fellow returning coach CeeLo Green seemed slow to start in Monday's premiere, Aguilera fought fiercely to prove her worth, showing mainstay coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton (he of the back-to-back-to-back victories) that she wasn't to be taken lightly. And the talent she managed to secure in during the first night of blind auditions was all the evidence she needed.

Aguilera scored a victory during one of the evening's four-way fights for an artist, convincing Matthew Schuler (who scored the fastest four-way chair turn in "Voice" history) that she was the coach to take him to the end. She also snagged 33-year-old Josh Logan after a lively battle with Shelton and Levine, prompting Shelton to admit that she finished the night with some of the strongest vocalists.

Sure, it's only night one of what will certainly be a long season, but Aguilera walks away the winner of Season 5's premiere in our book. How about yours?
