'The Voice': Judith Hill and Karina Iglesias prove this is a woman's world
On night one of battle rounds on "The Voice," coach Adam Levine may have made powerhouses Judith Hill and Karina Iglesias duke it out on James Brown's classic "It's a Man's Man's Man's World," but these two ladies proved Season 4 of the NBC hit is anything but.
Judith may have had the frontrunner status going into the battle, with her blind audition to "What a Girl Wants" earning her major buzz, but Karina proved she wasn't going down without a fight. Their performance had the audience and all four coaches on their feet, ecstatic with enjoyment.
When host Carson Daly threw to Blake Shelton for his thoughts, the coach was literally speechless for a few moments -- it was that good. When it came time for Adam to make a decision, he noted, "That was not a great battle. That was the best battle we've ever seen on this show." And he wasn't wrong.
Ultimately, and perhaps because he knew one of the other coaches would steal whoever he discarded, Adam went with Judith; a shrewd choice. Almost immediately, Shakira slammed down on her button, opting to make her second and final steal. She knew what we all knew: Both of these women are too good to let go of that quickly. Thankfully, we didn't have to.
