'The Voice' results: Melanie Martinez and Amanda Brown leave Adam Levine with no team

amanda-brown-melanie-martinez-the-voice.jpg "The Voice" eliminated two contestants on Tuesday night. Melanie Martinez and Amanda Brown went home, leaving Terry McDermott, Trevin Hunt, Nicholas David, and Cassadee Pope as your Top 4 contestants for Season 3. Yes -- this means that like Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine no longer has a horse in the race.

Before getting sent home, Amanda and Cassadee sang Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" as a duet. Melanie took Christina Aguilera's advice and sang Fiona Apple's "Criminal" with Nicholas -- and it was a truly excellent song choice for her particular vocal chops.

Adam seemed relatively zen about losing his final two contestants. As several of the coaches have pointed out, winning isn't necessarily everything -- several non-winner contestants have gone on to moderate success following "The Voice" runs.
