'The Voice' winner Danielle Bradbery talks Season 4 victoryAdd to Favorites | The Voice
After leading coach Blake Shelton to a three-peat, Bradbery spoke with reporters backstage, opening up about what it felt like to win, why Shelton makes such a successful coach and just where she plans on storing her awesome new trophy.
"A lot was going through my mind," Bradbery says of the final moments of the finale, awaiting news of her fate. "The fact that any one of us could've been the winner, and The Swon Brothers and Michelle deserved it so much and they were amazing. When I got my name called, of course, you saw me cry my eyes out. It was an overwhelming moment. It was amazing."
The young winner -- youngest in the series' history -- explained that she never felt certain the title was hers. "You never know at this point because The Swon Brothers and Michelle, they were -- they deserved it. They were so amazing and they worked so hard to get here," she says. "They're winners, too. I wish I could break this [trophy] up and just give a lot to them to because, I mean, they're amazing. But I definitely was really shocked with the outcome."
When asked whether her remarkable success on the iTunes charts throughout the season (which was, in turn, factored into votes) offered her any sort of comfort or ease going into the final, Bradbery says no: "I mean, I definitely put the best in all my performances to make Blake proud and just have fun out there like he's been telling me to and getting up there on the charts, it's unbelievable and it's still sinking in."
Speaking of her mentor, Bradbery emphasizes that it's Shelton's caring way that makes him a top coach. "He's definitely 'what you see is what you get.' He's an amazing person, he's an amazing coach," she gushes. "He knows what he's doing. He's smart and he's definitely got your back no matter what and that's what basically counts. He cares for you."
And as for where she plans on displaying that trophy? "Somewhere special in my house," Bradbery laughs. "I don't know yet, but it's gonna be special." It sure will.
