Actress Alanna Masterson is joining the cast of "The Walking Dead" in Season 4. Her role is unknown, but she will reportedly play a new survivor to the show.

Deadline broke the news about the casting. Apparently Masterson's character will be recurring in Season 4, and could become a series regular in Season 5. Sounds like she is someone audience members should keep an eye out for, because she'll likely become significant fairly quickly.

Some speculate that Masterson could be playing the role of Tara Chalmers, though AMC isn't confirming or denying that at this time. Chalmers is introduced in the "Rise of the Governor" novels, so it could be that Masterson's role has something to do with the Governor's storyline this season.

"The Walking Dead" Season 4 is slated to premiere on AMC on Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. ET.
