'The Way, Way Back' trailer: Steve Carell plays a total jerk in Sundance success

When "The Way, Way Back" hits theaters this July, it'll showcase Steve Carell in a way like never before: As a thoughtless jerk.

Sure, Carell's played some dim-bulb characters in his time, but never ones without their fair share of heart. As the trailer for the new film reveals, Carell's latest role sees any trace of heart diminished, playing cruel stepfather-to-be to the film's hero, Liam James ("The Killing").

The film was the talk of Sundance, with Fox Searchlight purchasing the coming-of-age dramedy, about James' character working at a run-down water park for a summer and finding himself, for nearly $10 million. Carell and James are joined by nearly all of Hollywood in the film, including Sam Rockwell, Allison Janney, Maya Rudolph, and Toni Collette.
