'The Whispers' trailer puts Lily Rabe in a new American horror story
ABC released the first trailer for "The Whispers," a new horror drama coming to the 2014-15 midseason. In it, "American Horror Story" alum Lily Rabe tracks down a conspiracy where some entity speaks to children and convinces them to do horrible crimes as part of a larger conspiracy.
The official synopsis for the series reads: "Aliens have invaded Earth by using our most unlikely resource to achieve world domination -- our children. As the kids unwittingly help these unseen enemies, the clock counts down in this suspenseful race to save humanity."
That synopsis ultimately ruins all sense of suspense about what is controlling the children, but it's an interesting premise that is perfect for the shorter, event series-types of show being poised for the midseason. "The Whispers" looks great based on the above trailer, and it has a strong cast including Rabe, Barry Sloane, Milo Ventimiglia, Derek Webster, Brianna Brown, Catalina Denis, Kylie Rogers and Kyle Harris Breitkopf.
Audiences have shown an exhaustion with longer supernatural mystery shows like "Believe," which was canceled after one season. Maybe "The Whispers" will follow in the footsteps of CBS event series hit "Under The Dome," which is returning for its second season in summer 2014.
