'The X Factor' Top 6 results: Did Ellona Santiago, Rion Paige, Carlito Olivero go home?

the-x-factor-top-6-results-rion-paige-carlito-olivero.jpgAnother week, another brutal double elimination on "The X Factor." With six very talented acts left, it was inevitable that someone surprising would wind up on the bottom. Who made it to the semifinals? Find out which acts from the Top 6 moved on to the next round below.

First up, the hardest cut: the bottom vote-getter. Proving the oft-heard statement that no one is safe, surprisingly it's a shocked Ellona Santiago who gets the swift boot. She had a solid night performing, but since she didn't stand out like Alex and Sierra and she didn't screw up (well, no one really screwed up -- but she didn't really get any bad feedback), the audience just assumed she'd be safe. She wasn't.

The three solidly safe acts were Restless Road, Alex and Sierra, and Jeff Gutt, leaving Rion Paige and Carlito Olivero to sing for their lives. In the end, Rion's impassioned but shaky "The House that Built Me" by Miranda Lambert couldn't top Carlito's fun, uptempo (but also shaky) "U Make Me Wanna" by Usher.

Elsewhere in the episode, Simon dedicated the episode to Nelson Mandela, a nice (if out of place) sentiment, Season 2's bro-tastic surfer group Emblem 3 performed a song that sounded like literally every other song they've performed ever (with some artfully touselled hair), and U.K. "X Factor" girl group Little Mix sang another fun girl power-y anthem.

Did the right acts go home?
