'Thor' in for 'Spidey-Man 4,' 'Pirates 4' catches May tides
As Zap2it reported Wednesday, production on "Spidey 4" has been delayed due to a story disagreement over which villians to use. Apparently, this has also pushed the scheduled May 11, 2011 release date, which another Marvel comics film, Paramount's "Thor," will move into instead, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
May will be a big month for Disney as well. The studio decided to release its summer tentpole movie, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," for May 20, 2011.
So while "Pirates" sets sail in May, it remains to be seen if "Spidey 4" will continue to be left high and dry due to its script debate or if some sort of compromise can be worked out so production can move forward.
Speaking of "Spider-Man," former Spidey frenemy James Franco has landed himself a gig with "Slumdog Millionaire" director Danny Boyle and Fox Searchlight, says Variety.
Franco, who's wrapping up his stint on "General Hospital" and shot a guest-starring turn on "30 Rock," will star in "127 Hours" as real-life mountaineer Aron Ralston, who amputated his own arm after it was trapped under a boulder during a climb, scaled down the mountain and then made it out to be rescued.
