'Thursday Night Football' brings NFL-themed episodes to CBS: 5 suggestionsAdd to Favorites | NCIS: New Orleans
Here are Zap2it's Top 5 suggestions for NFL-themed episodes.
1. 'The McCarthys'
CBS' new family comedy is about a sports-obsessed family in Boston, so Patriots owner Robert Kraft, hunky Pats QB Tom Brady or any number of other players should definitely be dropping by this sitcom. Perhaps the daughter who is pregnant with a dead guy's baby could go on a date with an NFL player.
2. 'The Good Wife'
Much of "The Good Wife" has revolved around real-life, or close approximations of, Chicago political figures, so why not get Chicago Bears owner Virginia Halas McCaskey involved in a case for Florrick & Agos (Florrick, Agos & Lockhart?). Or, even better, somehow Mary Beth Peil's Jackie Florrick is friends with McCaskey (and they like to drink wine together). That would be kind of amazing and not out of the realm of possibility.
3. 'NCIS: New Orleans'
"NCIS" just spun off to the Big Easy, so what better way to have an NFL-themed episode than to have the local agents go toe-to-toe with Saints owner Tom Benson? Or perhaps Drew Brees could guest-star as a criminal, which would be hilarious. More likely he'd want to help investigate, as we imagine above.
4. 'The Big Bang Theory'
Kaley Cuoco's Penny giving a football tutorial to her band of nerdy guy friends could be a lot of fun, as it has already been established that she's a huge football fan. Unfortunately there is no Los Angeles-based football team, but perhaps the "BBT" gang could run into some San Diego Chargers players when they go to Comic-Con.
This New York-based crime drama has two teams with which to play. Maybe there is a "West Side Story"-type storyline revolving around Giants and Jets fans (like Sharks and Jets, only football fans). Giants owner John Mara would probably be down to cameo -- he is the uncle to actresses Rooney and Kate Mara, so he's no stranger to Hollywood.
