Time magazine cover shows woman breast-feeding 3-year-old son
The striking image accompanies a story on attachment parenting, a philosophy that encourages connection between parent and child through extended breastfeeding, co-sleeping and "baby wearing" (carrying the baby in a sling).
The cover model, Jamie Lynne Grumet, is an LA mom who subscribes to attachment parenting, which has reportedly been on the rise over the last 20 years following the publication of "The Baby Book" by Dr. Bill Sears and his wife, Martha.
"When you think of breast-feeding, you think of mothers holding their children, which was impossible with some of these older kids," Schoeller says. "I liked the idea of having the kids standing up to underline the point that this was an uncommon situation."
What do you think of the cover? Do you think extended breast-feeding is more common than people think?
