TLC introduces 'Craft Wars,' hosted by Tori Spelling
"Craft Wars" is the newest addition to TLC's lineup, a 10-episode competition series that sounds a little like a "Chopped"-meets-"Project Runway" contest for three everyday crafters who must battle each other in two rounds of challenges that tackle different aspects of crafting.
Tori Spelling will host and mentor. And yes, the reality star and actress does have crafting clout. She has her own line of craft products, the Tori Spelling Collection, and is publishing a party planning book called "CelebraTORI" on April 3.
"As a lifelong crafter, I love how crafting gives you the opportunity to really express yourself and show your creativity. It's an amazing outlet and nothing shows love more than something homemade. I can't wait to share my passion and be inspired by all the amazing contestants," she says in a statement.
The show will be judged by Stephen Brown, founder of giftware company Glitterville Studios, Erica Domesek, founder of P.S.-I made this and author of the book of the same name, and Jo Pearson, creative expert for Michaels craft supply store.
Speaking of -- much like "PR's" Piperlime Accessories Wall, contestants will get their supplies from the Michaels Craft Closet.
"'Craft Wars' continues to re-define crafting as something extremely modern -- this is not your grandmother's crocheting. At its core, the series celebrates the creative spirit, which will resonate with TLC's audience," says network GM Amy Winter in a statement.
