TMZ founder Jim Paratore dies at 58

jim-paratore-tmz-dead-getty.jpg Jim Paratore, founder of celebrity news website TMZ and executive producer of the TMZ television program, died of an apparent heart attack Tuesday (May 29) while on a bike trip in France, reports TMZ. He was 58 years old.

In addition to his work at TMZ, Paratore was President of Telepictures, a division of Warner Bros., and helped create such shows as "The Bonnie Hunt Show," "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and "Lopez Tonight."

His obituary on TMZ says Paratore was hilarious and that everyone there was touched by his brilliance. Paratore is survived by his wife Jill Wickert and daughter Martinique Paratore.

Ellen DeGeneres tweets of his passing, "My friend, producer and champion Jim Paratore died today. He gave me a chance when no one else would. I love you, Jim."
